Where/How do we
find Doctor Joe to begin with?
In this performance we find
Doctor Joe not keeping a professional standard when meeting with therapy
clients. Due to his struggles, involving
his marriage life and the increasing secret placed on his shoulders. Having received many visits/sessions from one
client in particular, Doctor Joe then develops a relationship with this client
and sooner commits adultery against his wife.
Later fearing that his wife knows about his secret affairs, he then
panics to find out that his adulterer partner knows about his marriage life and
wants to put an end to their relationship.
This then shows through Doctor Joe’s lack of professionalism in later
sessions with other clients, as he isn’t much help, plus more and more secrets
and unfortunate stories result in depression for Doctor Joe.
Where do we
find Doctor Joe as the performance concludes?
At the climax our
performance, we find each character confessing to their secrets in an
interrogation. Except Doctor Joe is
missing. This is the result of Doctor
Joe’s rising depression and inability to maintain his stress and worries. All concerning the deep secrets told to him
by his recent clients, and his worries of losing his current relationship and
receiving divorce papers from his wife.
So to conclude the performance, we find Doctor Joe physically and
mentally falling, and we then see him lose all hope as he commits suicide by jumping
off the bridge near his work office (the Tallahatchie Bridge).
